Good Mythical Morning (with Rhett and Link): The Review

Hey folks!

Today I was wondering what to write about. I often get this problem as I want to make sure I write about a variety of subjects while at the same time making it interesting and something people will want to read about.

So in the spirit of this, I thought I would review another Youtube channel; Good Mythical Morning (with Rhett and Link).....

 Let's talk about that!

Good Mythical Morning is the brain child of dynamic Youtube duo, Rhett and Link. They have been "internetaining" the websophere with this family friendly comedy talk show since 2012 and have since gained quite a following with over 12 and a half million followers, or "mythical beasts" as they so loving name them. The show has gone from strength to strength from its humble beginnings boasting it's very own merchandise, to having a tour dedicated to it! The cast of GMM even got a spot on the Jimmy Fallon show and it has now recently started it's 12th season.

They have an eclectic mix of content but it's the hilarious food challenge "will it" episodes that have proved the biggest great hit with audiences and their great sportsmanship and chemistry on screen has made them Youtube stars in their own right, with signature catchphrases like "let's talk about that" to introduce the show, and the wheel of mythicality to end the show. The boys have shaped the series to be a full bag of fun and funny entertainment from start to finish. Other content includes the likes of taste tests where the pair taste foods from different fast food places and see if they can guess where the food came from, to pranks and games such as nasty food jenga. They also like to experiment and play with concepts and ideas such as sitting in a giant cereal bowl, to discovering weird ways to start a fire. No matter what the duo is up to, they always do it with a smile and along with their backstage team, they have crafted something that really works.

Rhett and Link (Rhett McLaughlin and Charles Lincoln Neal) have been the best of friends since they met in first grade in detention while colouring in pictures of mythical beasts. Since that day over 30 years ago, they have been inseparable. They have gone through many things together from trying their hand at music with their band, 'Wax Paper Dogz' in High School, to having the same first girlfriend in school and sharing many brotherhood moments together including some questionable fashion choices and hairstyles. When you see their videos, you really see their bond on screen and as they're so open and upfront and willing to send themselves up for your (and their) entertainment, you really feel like you're part of the GMM family being welcomed into the bossom of Rhett and Link.

GMM isn't the only thing these guys have worked on/are working on. They enjoy success in many other internet projects, podcasts, film and even print. Not to mention the GMM store for all their 'merch'. "Ear Biscuits" is their podcast where they chew the cud on many subjects and informally chat to their internet friends and other stars alike. The Book of Mythicality is basically their humour transferred in paper format. Their second Youtube series for 'Youtube Red', "Buddy System" was announced in 2016 and was written and produced by the duo themselves. The web series follows the pair on their quest to take back control of their much loved show, GMM after it is taken over by an infomercial star using the channel to advertise some very strange products. The series has had great success, much like their other 'internetaining' exploits and the pair announced a 'Tour of Mythicality' late in 2016. Unfortunately for us in the UK the tour is not coming here and in fact, of you are in the US, the show is now largely sold out, but no doubt the success of this show will lead to more recognition which will hopefully mean they'll come to the UK soon enough.

You can pre-order the Book of Mythicality here!

The most recent episode of GMM saw the pair get their own pair snipped in a "brosectomy" or in medical terms, a vasectomy. Yes, you read that right, they both went together to go and get their tubes snipped. If that's not the sign of a close bond then I don't know what is. Rhett and Link both have kids (Link has 3 and Rhett has 2) and they have all featured on several episodes with their father's and as you may have already guessed, yes, their kids are all best friends with each other and you can see this bond in one episode in particular where they all got to blast their dad's with nerf guns. A note for the guys before watching this 'brosectomy' episode, it may make you cringe....hard. Don't worry, you don't get to see the gross detail, but the faces they both pull leave little to the imagination.

So to conclude, these two fun guys are the perfect pair to watch first thing in the morning; they introduce and carry out the show with a smile, they discuss a variety of things in a fun and interesting way, their 'mythical crew' backstage is fantastic and the show itself feels very homely and welcoming to watch. So go on, go and watch and subscribe! And in case the main show isn't enough, there's also a 'Good Mythical More' channel as well as a 'This is Mythical' channel starring all the mythical crew and their antics.

That's all for today, thankyou for reading, liking and possibly even sharing....You know what time it is!

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. As it is a Bank Holiday however, I will only be doing the one blog on Wednesday next week.
