Hello!
I thought you guys were long overdue an update so here's what my September has looked like...I'll bullet point (ya know, efficiency) then I'll elaborate later...
1. Trying to avoid X-Factor with every fibre of my being.
2. Being a bridesmaid for my auntie and uncle
3. Getting a new job!! (two exclamation marks to really get across that I'm happier than a pig in shit about this)
4. Celebrating my mums birthday
5. Finishing my internship
1. Well Autumn television has been a pleasurable experience as a whole; The Great British Bake Off and Gogglebox made a very welcome return to my living room and The Apprentice is also making a come back very soon. But unfortunately with the shower of awesome, comes the shower of shit. X-Factor being just a mere splash in the shit pool. I caught a programme the other week named 'FlockStars' (ITV you punny thing you!) where a line-up of Z-listers had all been trained in the (suddenly interesting) sport of sheep herding. They were each given a sheep dog companion and they compete against each other. Right after Gabby Logan has (rather over-enthusiastically) shouted "Release the sheep!" of course. You can imagine how hard I laughed at how this has become a completely viable programme to put on prime-time television. I mean just imagine the board meeting.....some ITV apprentice perhaps comes bounding in the room to the board of directors and programming chiefs and they say "I have the perfect idea for a new show- it's going to be a complete hit!" And the fact they bought it.....I despair.
Now onto X-Factor.....rumours say that the viewing figures have gone down the swanny. Well bugger me, say it ain't so! With the sob story/public humiliation to actual legit talent ratio being more than a little lop-sided, it's no surprise people are turning away. The programme has been going for donkeys years now, maybe a break is needed for them to really think of something new and original.....oh wait...original would be too shocking right...yeah.
2. Now this was the most anticipated wedding of 2015- my uncle was marrying his long term girlfriend (and now auntie) and I was beyond excited. I was going to look all pretty and girly for once in my life and see all my family too and their friends too. The day was sunny, my outfit and hair and makeup went well for once in my life and I was joining my cousins to start the best day. The reception was a great party and after quite a lot of Sauvignon Blanc and a lorra lorra laffs I got into bed at 4 am. My uncle and auntie are the best couple; they can laugh at each other and with each other, enjoy the same things and work hard and support each other when it counts the most and I was so proud to be a big part of their day. I hope I can find the same happiness they have one day. I may also add the views from around the reception venue were....spectacular!
3. Yes! I have a new job!! As a receptionist at the hospital 5 mins walk from me. No more McSlaving for me any more! I just need to wait for the paperwork to be signed off and everything then I'm good to go. When I got the news last Tuesday I cried with happiness....I've been hoping and wishing for a way out of Mcds for quite some time and to no avail so this has come as a huge boost for me. Now I just need to get the rest of my life sorted....
4. Mum's birthday was recently so I surprised her with a walk out to a restaurant and I even made her card! She laughed but as I used a few funny photo's of us both, she was a little embarassed. But that's what children are for right....or is it the other way round? I don't know...
I also got her a selfie stick as a joke present as while I enjoy watching her trying to figure out the art of selfie taking on her own, I thought a little help in hand couldn't hurt. It's the young persons walking stick.....you heard that here first!!
5. Finally, I finish my internship soon and while I have learnt a fair deal, it's not been completely smooth sailing. Blame it on false advertising or the fact it's a start up with their focus on getting their roots in the ground. I was starting to resent the role I found myself in a little and after news of the new job, I knew I wouldn't have time to commit to the internship as well so I thought I'd go instead of sticking with something I knew I didn't enjoy any more.
So that's my September rounded up for you, it's October soon so make the most of the rest of September- The Great British Bake off is on tonight and it's chocolate week which is even better! So sit your soggy bottoms down for that one!
Until next time, Au revoir!
