Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!

Good afternoon everyone!

I thought I would pop by for the second blog of this week and my last blog until 2018. I’ll keep it short as I know you’ve all got Christmas prep to get on with!

I know I know, you'll all miss me while I’m gone but I will be back in the new year with more of what you enjoyed this year including lots more Mulie antics, holiday stories, tips and tricks, reviews and plenty more! I thought as 2017 is coming to a close, I would take some time to reminisce on my blogging journey this year.

Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? I revived this blog back in April this year and I'm so glad I did so. I was stuck in a bit of a rut wishing I could write for a living instead of doing an average 9-5 every day. I was watching Youtuber's making their living by vlogging and living the dream experiencing so many things thanks to their career choices. I started to become a bit obsessed with Youtube at that point and started to think of things I could do to kick-start my longed-for career. As well as looking for jobs, I thought the best thing I could do is blow the dust off my blog and start a fresh. Getting a job in the media sector is so hard so I thought this would stand me in good stead. After what seemed like the longest job search ever, I was offered the position of Digital Content Executive in November this year. I finally had my foot on the first rung on the ladder!

I started with quite a steep ambition of blogging 5 days a week, exploring different themes every day: Monday was for the weekend round up, Tuesday was review day, Wednesday was current affairs and news roundup, Thursday was dedicated to story time and Friday was miscellaneous. My inspiration for this set up was from Grace Helbig and her ‘Daily Grace’ channel. I enjoyed writing about something new every day but I have to say, the post that sticks out as the best to write for me was a post called ‘The CuriousStory of the Pigeon in the Daytime’ where I told you all about a pigeon that gave us all quite a hilarious surprise at the office! Soon though, the 5 blogs a week became quite tough to do due to work and other commitments so from that point I changed to blogging only a couple of times a week.

By this time, summer was upon us and along came the holiday posts. I went to North Wales with mum and explored Snowdonia in the glorious sunshine and then in June I launched ‘A Week of June-ness’. June was quite a busy and fun-filled month for me so I thought that as time wasn’t going to be in abundance, I would save all my stories and document them in an epic week-long dedication to my June antics.

While I like to keep things light on my blog, there were quite a few occasions where I discussed more serious issues, and dedicated my posts to remembering some pretty dark times too. From tragedies such as the Manchester attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire, to serious moral issues like the right to die and the sexual misconduct from Hollywood heavy-weights. I think it’s important to write and acknowledge these issues as they affect so many people and besides, what’s the point in having a platform to air opinions and raise your voice if you don’t use it?

I’ve really enjoyed getting back into writing again. I worried at times whether anybody was reading or whether I should bother, but getting my new job, and realising I had support from people reading, made me realise I could do it after all so thank you everyone who has supported me with my blog this year whether you read it, commented on it, shared it or give me ideas on what to write, it meant so much to me. I also wanted to give a mention to Matthew who I’ve gone to more than once or twice for a quick edit or suggestion! It wouldn’t be half the blog it is without you so thank you.

While I’m here thanking people and looking back, I wanted to once again say thank you to everyone who I worked with while at the NHS! It was hard saying goodbye to everyone but I know we’ll all keep in touch- you can’t get rid of me that easily- so it was more of a ‘goodbye for now’ I can’t wait to see what my new role brings me but for now, it’s time to enjoy the Christmas and New Year period.

I won’t be back now until January 3rd where I will be filling you in on my time off and of course my first day at Travelodge. For now, all that remains is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for reading this year and I will see you again soon!

Psst! Channel 4. Now. The Muppet Christmas Carol. That's all.
