You join me having made a cottage pie! Yes, I'm cooking! It was really nice to get cooking in the kitchen. Even though I lack the finesse and natural cooking flair of a top chef, it's great to be trying at least. It's now out of the oven and it's clear to see, I didn't do enough mash! Ah well, that's the beauty of home cooking, it's not perfect but still tasty (lets hope).

I can't take credit for the recipe however as it's Matthew's so mine will probably pale in comparison but the main thing is I want to start cooking my own meals and prepping things for lunch instead of going out and buying lunch all the time. Working in town offers me, quite literally, a high street full of bad food, so by imitating Matthew's cooking, hopefully my diet of McDonalds and Greggs sausage rolls will soon be a thing of the past! Also mum, I used nearly all of your peas and one of your jacket potatoes (even that was barely enough potato!) so I apologise and please remind me tomorrow to get you some more.
So, it's Monday again and that means a weekend round up. This weekend I was kind of on a "on-call" basis at work as a new software upgrade was going on at the hospital and we were all being summoned to help out the A&E department on data catch-up. So with that, I ended up lingering about at home watching copious amounts of Disney which made the weekend sat poised at home so much more enjoyable.
As the on call didn't start until Saturday, I enjoyed a night out with mum and her friends as we went to see John Bishop live at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury. I'd not seen a lot of his material before; only the odd bit from Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo and he was funny in both of those so I was looking forward to a fun night. Mum's friend very kindly bought me a variety box complete with a miniature bottle of wine so not only was I set up for a laugh, I was also potentially set up to get a bit sozzled!
The set was brilliant and covered many of life's up and down's with a focus on the trials and tribulations of reaching the grand old age of 50. He delivered comical anecdotes of life back "in the day" to life now, and gave us all a laugh with the story of discovering his ancestors on BBC's 'Who Do You Think You Are.' As I said before, I'd not seen much of Bishop's work before but throughout the set it was clear that his style of comedy is to keep it real and down to Earth, with all his jokes and stories coming from his own life experiences and observations. I'm not used to the light comedy that the likes of Michael McIntyre and John Bishop offer as I tend to enjoy the dry wit of Milton Jones, the hilarious pessimism of Jack Dee and the dark and murky comedy of Frankie Boyle but I admit it is nice to lighten the tone once in a while. Thankfully, after swigging on the wine, I didn't end up sozzled but instead I felt more sleepy so the lift home at the end of the night was welcome.
Can I just say thankyou again to mum's friend who bought me the wine. You probably paid a fortune for it as well so you shouldn't have, but thankyou anyway.
As for my weekend of Disney and working, I was summoned in on Saturday afternoon 2 hours ahead of schedule and I admit, by the time I left at 6, I felt like I hadn't really helped that much as most of the paperwork wasn't filled out properly and I'm not qualified to make clinical assumptions so me and the team came unstuck when they tried to do the catch up forms.
However, the weekend was amazing on the Disney front. I watched Moana about 3 million times and concluded that it was my new favourite Disney film, and as I wasn't called in on Sunday, I was able to watch all the Disney films available in my Now TV library! The Incredibles, The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, Zootropolis you name it, I watched it! While I enjoyed having the weekend to watch Disney, I was a little annoyed that I wasn't able to see Matthew, especially as I wasn't needed after 6pm on the Saturday! I'm going to spend the weekend with him this weekend though and the week after, we'll be going to Blackpool so I guess it's not too bad.
That's all for today, I'll see you all back here on Wednesday evening but for now, I have lots of washing up to do, not to mention all the meal prep! Have a great Tuesday guys.
Oh and before I go I just quickly wanted to wish my uncle and auntie a very happy 2nd wedding anniversary. You're both no doubt drowning each other in wine to celebrate and good for you- chin chin!
